SWIM Monitor Program

Mobile Baykeeper believes folks should be able to make informed decisions on where to swim and play in the Mobile Bay Watershed. That's why we test the water quality of 20 sites across Mobile and Baldwin counties through our SWIM (Swim Where It's Monitored) Program. We focus on sites with public access so the community can know whether or not their favorite watering hole is safe to swim in.

But we can't do this work alone. To continue our SWIM program, we need volunteers like you.

SWIM Monitors will visit selected sites weekly or monthly to collect water samples from one or more of our SWIM Sites across Mobile and Baldwin County. SWIM Monitors are responsible for carefully collecting water samples to prevent contamination and returning the samples to the Mobile Baykeeper Lab for processing on the same day as collection. A staff member will process and read the samples.

SWIM Monitors must collect samples and return them to the Mobile Baykeeper office every Thursday between 8 AM and 1 PM, during the summer testing season (April - Sept) and the first Thursday of the month during the fall and winter seasons (Oct - March).
