Mobile Baykeeper is seeking a Social Media Intern to join our team and assist in amplifying our mission to defend and restore the health of Coastal Alabama’s waterways through strategic social media engagement. The ideal candidate should reside in Mobile, Alabama, and possess experience in brand representation, with a strong passion for conservation and environmental advocacy. As a Social Media Intern, you will play a crucial role in telling the stories of those who live, work, and play on the water of Coastal Alabama through compelling content creation and community engagement across various social media platforms.
While interning at Baykeeper you will:
- Work closely with our programs team to learn about projects such as oyster restoration and living shorelines, understanding their role in improving the health of our waterways.
- Collaborate with our magazine editor to share stories from CURRENTS Magazine through Baykeeper’s social channels, including on-site interviews and behind-the-scenes social captures.
- Gain insight into nonprofit communications and fundraising strategies while supporting our team.
- Learn about local legislation and observe how Baykeeper advocates for bills that affect the health of our waterways.
Your responsibilities will include assisting the Communications Team in:
- Develop and curate and schedule engaging content, including reels and stories, that resonates with our audience across various platforms.
- Engaging with our online community and responding to comments, messages, and inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Act as a local representative engaging with local events and partnership and cross promoting on social media.
- Assisting in tracking and analyzing social media metrics and performance data to evaluate the effectiveness of our efforts and make data-driven decisions.
- Contributing to the maintenance and organization of our social media content library, including photos, videos, and other assets.
