Mobile Arts Council closing reception for The Green Room silent auction/exhibition benefitting MBk
Tuesday, Jun 22, 2010
Two of MAC's June artists, Sarah Haas Otts and Rebekah Phillips Webb, will host a closing reception for the month's exhibitions this Thursday, June 24, from 6 until 8 PM.
Their joint exhibition "Coastal Abstractions" hangs in the Skinny Gallery, displaying Otts' paintings of children on the beach, boats, fish, and scenes of the bay and delta in fresh whites and blues, warm yellows and browns, accented with gold and silver. It also includes Webb's large black-and-white photographs of sawgrass, a shrimpboat, the beach, a scenic highway and a familiar bridge.
The Blue Room suggests a garden of spring and summer flowers (azalea, iris, amaryllis, lilies) rendered by Paula Stadther.
And the Green Room offers a chance to support Mobile Baykeeper during the current environmental crisis -- and to acquire art -- in a silent auction of works contributed local artists, all featuring scenes and wildlife of our area, some commenting on the BP disaster. The auction also includes items such as books, a tee-shirt, and a Gulf Coast dinner for eight. Bidding ends at 5 PM, this Friday, June 25.
