Forever Wild Vote

Alabama's Legislature has reconvened in Montgomery, and the fight for Forever Wild renewal continues.  The State Senate has voted for SB369, the Forever Wild Ballot Initiative, and soon this bill will be up for vote in the House of Representatives.  We need you to call and email your Representative and let them know you support Forever Wild.  

Notice of Settlement, Highway 98

The Circuit Court of Mobile County, Alabama has filed notification that the Mobile Area Water and Sewer System (MAWSS) and the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) have settled the Highway 98 lawsuit.

Foamy Tide

Thanks to everyone who has called to inform us about the unusual colors and foam currently appearing in the Mobile Bay and Gulf waters.  We are currently undergoing what is called a Mahogany tide.  This tide is caused by a bloom of red/brown algae, and is common this time of year.  Excess amounts of the algae which causes the Mahogany tide can be harmful for human consumption or cause low dissolved oxygen levels, which is dangerous for marine life.  However, the current concentration in our area is very low,

Alabama’s legislature got it right when they created the Forever Wild Land Trust.  Created by Constitutional Amendment in 1992, Forever Wild was authorized by Alabama's voters to be funded by Alabama’s General Fund for a period of 20 years. For the last 19 years this land acquisition program has leased or bought over 200,000 acres in 22 counties across the state to enhance the opportunities available for all Alabamians to enjoy the great outdoors.
