Casi Callaway
Executive Director

Casi (kc) Callaway- (pronounced kc) is from Mobile, Alabama, graduated from the last all girls’ class of Julius T. Wright and finished with a degree in Philosophy and Ecology from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. She started in the environmental field as the Southeastern Regional College Campus Coordinator for Earth Day 1990. Mrs. Callaway’s next environmental job was in Washington, DC for Clean Water Action. She worked on local, state, and federal campaigns doing public education, research of political issues, lobbying at every level of government and fundraising. Before leaving DC, Mrs. Callaway attained the positions of the DC Field Canvass Director and the D.C. Office’s Florida Program Director.

As Executive Director & Baykeeper of Mobile Baykeeper (formerly Mobile Bay Watch, Inc.), Mrs. Callaway is responsible for coordinating public education; community organizing; research and fundraising. Mobile Baykeeper has over 3,500 members and deals with issues such as sewage, air toxics, mercury exposure, permit violations, industrial growth and other public health protection issues. She holds four gubernatorial appointments and serves on the boards of several local, state and regional environmental organizations.

                                                                        
Tammy Herrington
Deputy Director

As Deputy Director for Mobile Baykeeper,  Tammy's primary responsibility is currently responding to the oil crisis in the Gulf of Mexico.  She coordinates volunteers, works on community outreach, public relations and manages the grants for the organization.  She is originally from Louisiana and graduated from University of Southern Mississippi with a B.S. in Psychology and a minor in English.  Her previous experience includes serving as the Community Outreach Coordinator and contract grant writer for The Lighthouse shelter in Baldwin County. Tammy’s passion for spending time on the water started at an early age from visits to Gulf Coast beaches and fishing trips with her grandfather.

Donna C. Jordan
Program Director

As Program Director, Donna’s primary responsibility is to ensure regulatory agencies are accountable for implementing environmental statutes.  She monitors local projects of environmental concern as well as tracking air and water permitting activity in the watershed.  She also reviews member concerns and public comments received for possible expanded involvement of Mobile Baykeeper.

A native of Alabama’s Wiregrass region, Donna is a 2002 magna cum laude graduate of Troy University, where she received her B.A. in Business Administration.  Her interest in Alabama’s waterways began during her childhood in rural Crenshaw County, living on Gantt Lake and fishing with her family on Patsaliga Creek and the Conecuh River.  Donna first came to Mobile Baykeeper as a volunteer, before joining staff as an Americorps VISTA volunteer, and eventually becoming Program Director. 

Sandy Sloan
Development Director

Sandy grew up in Sumter County Alabama and spent summers with her family on the Gulf Coast.  A graduate of the University of Alabama, she had a successful career in retail as a buyer for Macy's Department Stores.  Prior to working at Mobile Baykeeper, she enjoyed positions in medical sales and medical practice marketing.

In 1994, Sandy moved back to the Gulf Coast to enjoy its tranquil lifestyle , beautiful waterways, and to be closer to family.  As Development Director for Mobile Baykeeper, Sandy coordinates membership recruitment and all fundraising programs and events.

Lynne Cooper-McConnell

Lynne was born in New Orleans and grew up on the Gulf Coast in Pass Christian, MS.  A graduate of Tulane University, Lynne had a successful career in the retail sector both in New York and Washington DC.  Lynne is extremely pleased to be contibuting her talents an skills to Mobile Baykeeper and its efforts to ensure the environmental health and beauty of the Gulf Coast and its waterways. 

Carol Miller

Carol started with Mobile Baykeeper as an Americorps Vista volunteer in February 2008 and now works as a part time staff member. She assisted the staff in the design and development of the Alabama Muddy Water Watch project, conducted research on several topics also related to environmental justice issues, and supported numerous activities in which Mobile Baykeeper is involved as an advocate for clean water and clean air in Alabama.  Originally from the Midwest, Carol moved to downtown Mobile's Church Street East neighborhood in 2007 from Washington DC following a 30+ year career with the Central Intelligence Agency. 

AmeriCorps VISTA

AmeriCorps VISTA is a national service program whose members commit to serve full-time for a year at a nonprofit organization or local government agency.  Mobile Baykeeper's VISTA volunteers work with communities most impacted by pollution and help with fundraising activities, public relations and marketing, water quality monitoring,  stormwater runoff education, and most recently - the BP oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico.

Kylie Babb
AmeriCorps VISTA

Kylie Babb is our new AmeriCorps VISTA at Mobile Baykeeper. Kylie is from St. Louis, Missouri and will be graduating in December from Spring Hill College with a BA in Intergrated Communications. Kylie will be assisting Development Director Sandy Sloan in outreach programs and fundraisers. Kylie is excited to be a member of the Baykeeper team and looks forward to helping in the preservation of the watershed she has enjoyed over the past four years.

Bethany Olson

AmeriCorps VISTA

Bethany recently graduated from St Olaf College. A lifelong resident of Minnesota, she has relocated to the Gulf Coast to join Mobile Baykeeper as a VISTA after     interning with us last January. Having focused on environmental studies in college, she felt called to get involved in the Gulf Coast’s restoration process following the BP Oil Disaster, and serendipitously discovered Baykeeper during a service trip in Bayou La Batre in July 2010. Bethany is passionate about clean water, sustainable development, and community action. She is excited to join forces with Mobile Baykeeper and work towards sustainable recovery in Mobile and throughout the Gulf Coast.
