Officers

 

Ray Mayhall, President

Ray is a native of Mobile, Alabama.  After forty years in the Coca-Cola Bottling business, he retired as the Senior Vice-President of Sales for Coca-Cola Bottling Company Consolidated.  Ray graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Advertising from the University of Southern Mississippi.  He is a member of St. Rose of Lima Church.  He serves on Board of Directors of the Catholic Social Services Mobile Advisory Board, the Bellingrath Gardens and Home Foundation, and works with the American Cancer Society.  He resides on Fowl River with his wife, Jacque. 

 

John C. Bell, Vice President

John has served as Corporate General Counsel for Pilot Catastrophe Services, Inc. since 1997.  He holds a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Alabama and a J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law.  He is a deacon at Spring Hill Presbyterian Church and serves as board member on the board of Team Focus and Camp Grace.  He has previously served as a Commissioner to the Mobile Historic Development Commission and is an active volunteer for Outback America.  He resides in Mobile with his wife, Angela and their three children.

 

Maria Gwynn, Secretary

A retired Telecommunications Consultant, Maria graduated from Queens College in Charlotte, North Carolina. She is President of the Baldwin County Humane Society, a Board member of the Eastern Shore Literacy Council, Secretary of the Fairhope-Point Clear Association for Responsible Development, and a member of the Fairhope Tree Committee and Friends of Baldwin. She currently resides in Fairhope with her husband, Robbie.

 

J. Benson O’Connor, Treasurer

Benson serves as Controller at White Spunner, LLC. In addition to serving as the Treasurer of Mobile Baykeeper’s Board of Directors, he is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants. He resides in Mobile with his wife and two children.

bj Cooper

An artist and artist representative, bj holds a BA degree from Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia.  She serves as a member of the Board of the Eastern Shore Art Center and as the Center's Exhibition Committee Chairman, is a member of the Committee On Public Art, Friends of the Fairhope Library, Eastern Shore Democrats and the Fairhope Unitarian Fellowship.  She resides in Fairhope with husband A.J., an attorney and retired politician.  

Ellen Dyas

Ellen is a Mobile native who grew up recreating on Mobile Bay and the Delta. As an adult, she and her family live and own property on and near Mobile Bay and adjacent waterways. Ellen has great respect and appreciation for the major impact the Bay’s viability has on the economy and health of our community and region. She holds a Masters of Social Work for Florida State University and works at Bradford Health Services as the Director of Contracts.

 

Chris Fuchs

Managing Director of Budweiser-Busch Distributing, Chris is a member of Dauphin Way United Methodist Church, and works with several charities including United Cerebral Palsy, St. Jude, the American Cancer Society, United Way and the Mobile Food Bank. He resides in Mobile with his wife, Bonnie and their two children. 

 

Veronica Herndon

After 35 years in New York, where she received a BFA from Marymount College, was Managing Editor for an educational publisher, Marketing Director for Home Box Office, and President of an advertising agency, Ronnie returned to her roots in Badwin County in 2003.  Although at a slower pace, she continues having fun in marketing and advertising with clients in NYC and Mobile/Baldwin Counties  She lives on Mobile Bay at the end-of-a-dead-end road near Magnolia Springs with her husband, a retired AP photographer.

 

Sallye English Irvine

Co-owner of Earth Chic, LLC and a food writer, Sallye holds a Master’s Degree from UNC Chapel Hill, and her articles appear regularly in both the Press-Register and Mobile Bay Monthly. She is a member of the Alabama Coastal Heritage Trust Board, Keep Mobile Beautiful, Urban Forestry Litter & Beautification, and is a sustaining member of the Junior League of Mobile. She resides in Mobile with her husband George and their four children.

 

Thomas Lightcap

Senior Project Manager with JG Management Systems/American Integrated Services, Inc., Tommy has 35 years experience as an engineer performing a broad spectrum of construction and environmental work for both the government and private sector. He has worked for numerous military clients, which include the Army, Air Force, Navy, Army Reserve and the National Guard as well as other agencies that include the EPA and NASA. He was the 1993 Corps of Engineers Environmental Engineer of the year. He is a member of the Society of American Military Engineers and the American Society of Civil Engineers. He resides in Mobile with his wife.

 

Bryan Pape

Vice President of Commercial Banking at Hancock Bank, Bryan graduated from Auburn University in 1988 and received his Master's Degree from University of South Alabama in 1991.  In addition to serving as a member, and former president, of the Mobile Baykeeper Board of Directors, Bryan is a member of the Coastal Conservation Association and the Mobile Touchdown Club  He lives in Mobile with his wife and two children.

Robert C. Prater

A graduate of Auburn Unversity, Robert received both his MBA and BS of Finance. Robert  works in Mobile in finance. He also is a member of the Auburn Alumni Association and is involved in the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Robert lives in Mobile with his wife, Stephanie.

 

B. Greer Radcliff

A current resident of Fairhope, AL, Greer is a 1975 graduate of the University of Tennesee and the former President of Radcliff/Economy Marine Services, Inc.  Greer is also a current Board member of The Nature Conservancy of Alabama and a member of the Lemhi Regional Land Trust and Idaho Rivers United.  

 

Max Reed

A Marketing professional and President of the ROC Group Marketing, LLC, Max received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of South Alabama with a focus in creative writing and a minor in Communication Arts. He is a member of St. John Catholic Church, the Baldwin County Planning and Zoning Board for District 21, and serves on the Friends of Baldwin Steering Committee. Max and his family reside in Magnolia Springs.

 

L. Page Stalcup, III

Page is a partner with Wilkins Miller Hieronymus, LLC. He serves as Vice-Chair of the Providence Hospital Board of Directors, Chairman of audit and compensation committees, serves as Treasurer for the Exploreum Science Museum Board of Directors, Treasurer for the Edith Murphy Foundation, Treasurer of the Outback America Board of Directors, and a member of the St. Ignatius Church finance council. He resides in Mobile.

 

Frank Summersell

Currently retired, Frank was President and Owner of Educators Resource, Inc. for 31 years. Educators Resource is the leading wholesale distributor of pre K-8 learning materials and educational toys used by schools, teachers, parents and children. A past President of Mobile Baykeeper’s Board of Directors, he is also the Board President of St. Mary’s Home Foundation, and a member of the Village of Springhill. He currently resides in the Springhill area of Mobile with his wife, Annie.

 

John (J.T) Thompson

Owner of Callaghans Irish Social Club, John Thompson is a graduate from Auburn University. In addition to serving on the Board of Mobile Baykeeper, John serves on the Saenger Theatre Performing Arts Committee. He lives in Mobile with his wife and two children.

 

Steve Willard

Secretary/Treasurer of Rogers & Willard, Inc. a local commercial construction firm in Mobile, Steve  graduated from Auburn University in 1986 with a degree in Building Construction. He is a  former board member of The Nature Conservancy, Coastal Conservation Association & Mobile County Wildlife Conservation Association. He resides on Hollinger’s Island in Mobile County.
